People may not know this, but S.W.I.F.T. in Belgium is THE key hub for the transfer of world-wide digital funds. I know - I was there at S.W.I.F.T. talk about a 21st Century Fort Knox - only with digital gold!
I made a corporate video at S.W.I.F.T. years ago for a Canadian digital packet switching company called Nortel. They were supplying digital switches for the SWIFT systems carrying digital money. Countless billions of global funds route through that SWIFT system every day. Take note: Belgium is the THE center of global funds transfer.
"SWIFT is the financial industry-owned co-operative supplying secure, standardised messaging services and interface software to 7,800 financial institutions in more than 200 countries. SWIFT's worldwide community includes banks, broker/dealers and investment managers, as well as their market infrastructures in payments, securities, treasury and trade."
www.swift.com/index.cfm?item_id=43232
For instance: "Clearing & Settlement infrastructures accessible via SWIFT Securities Markets Infrastructures - SWIFT is the messaging hub for many clearing and settlement systems in payments, securities, foreign exchange and derivatives" - including - yes - the DTCC.
www.swift.com/index.cfm?item_id=2437
"Banking Markets infrastructures - Because they are multilateral, they need a trusted third party to provide secure, reliable and proven messaging solutions. SWIFT is increasingly used by financial institutions to fill that role."
and this is interesting......
"SWIFTNet Bulk Payments offers a secure, robust capability to help customers reduce their cost of exchanging bulk payment files in any format with all counterparties. www.swift.com/index.cfm?item_id=41977
So - let's take the lid off the idea that Belgium is somehow less than what it is - the global center of international funds transfer. Does that fit with the CMKX puzzel somehow? Dunno - but could very well be.
