I was told if you bought your shares from someone like Ameritrade and kept them in your account then you would not be included in that "1000". Ameritrade would count as one. If you requested your certificates then you would be on the books as a single shareholder instead of being lumped together with all the rest of us shareholders who keep our shares in the Ameritrade system. Make sense?

My understanding of the shorts is that you can't "see" them. If you bought shares, you own shares - whether they were real or naked shorted shares. Whoever sold them to you is responsible for delivering them when the time comes. You are a holder of shares and counted as a shareholder if you hold them in your name. If they are held in street name i.e. Ameritrade - then Ameritrades counts as 1 shareholder.
The short shares really only matter to the MM who sold them - once they are called up, that MM must deliver those shares (say you asked for your certificates) In order to get them if they were shorted, that MM must buy legitimate shares from somewhere else to deliver - at whatever price is asked for them. So if there are many shorted shares and the price begins to run, you'll see tremendous buying pressure by the short MM's to fill their pockets with real shares at the lowest price possible to cover their positions - the pressure pushes the price up further and the momentum begins - this is the famed Short Squeeze. I would love to see one of Biblical proportions here if the short theory is actualy truw - but no one knows for sure.

TEXT 99: A few weeks back. There was a lot of chat on the other sites about howmany share holders there are. 1000 was one of the #s of many mentioned. Some people said that brokrage houses counte all thier share holders as one. Other words they could have 100 people holding CMKX shares. But they only counted them as one. In my opinion. CMKX has way more than a thousand individuals holding shares in CMKX. Way more. ;D

Yes the original CMKX bb had way over 1000 share holders of this stock.
We even did a count of the number of shares we all owned, it was a lot of fun. The MM's are in a lot of trouble since many of us are long no matter how they bash these boards.
Has CMKX changed back to it's original Transfer agent ? I'm a little confused about that. I thought they went along with the new Transfer agent to prevent shorting by the MM's ?
Can anyone elaborate on that.

Any thoughts about why CMKX would do that ?
Perhaps they did not do what they promissed to do for CMKX.
