Abacus Report First Results from the DM zone
Symbol: AME (TSX-V)
VANCOUVER, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - Abacus Mining and Exploration (the "Company")
is pleased to announce drill results from the DM zone on the Company's Afton
property located near Kamloops, British Columbia. The DM zone lies one
kilometre east from the past producing Afton Pit and is the western most zone
of a 2.5 kilometre mineralized trend referred to as the DM, Audra, Crescent
area. This mineralized trend lies within a 5 kilometre long structural
corridor that extends from the Afton Deposit in the west to the Big Onion
deposit in the east.
The DM/Audra/Crescent area covers 2,525 hectares and hosts a number of
mineral occurrences, past producing mines, and partially developed resources.
These include the historic Iron Mask mine, and more recently the Crescent pit,
which was mined by Afton Operating Corporation.
Historical drilling on the DM zone by previous operators has defined a
zone of copper-gold mineralization extending from surface to 150 metres depth
within an area approximately 150 metres by 350 metres. The zone remains open
on three sides and at depth. The three holes recently completed by the Company
successfully expanded the mineralized zone to the southwest and at depth. The
following table lists all of the Company's drilling and some of the drilling
completed by previous operators.

(*)Drilling completed by previous operators.
The mineralization at the DM zone consists of chalcopyrite with lesser
bornite hosted by Cherry Creek monzonite and structurally controlled Cherry
Creek intrusive breccias generally in fault contact with Pothook diorite. The
historical drilling indicates that two known mineralized DM intrusive breccia
bodies appear to be coalescing at depth. On a larger scale, geophysical IP
anomalies also indicate that the DM Audra and Crescent zones may also join at
depth. The Audra zone, also hosted by an intrusive breccia, lies approximately
600 metres east of the DM zone and has received only very limited drilling.
Eco Tech Laboratory Ltd. of Kamloops, B.C. has completed all of the
Company's analytical work on the project. A quality control program, using
specific standards and blank samples is ongoing, using Eco Tech and ALS Chemex
Labs of North Vancouver, B.C. Mr. Robert R. Friesen, P. Geo and Mr. Robert
Darney, P. Geo are the qualified persons responsible for the design and
conduct of the work performed.
The Company will shortly resume exploration with a 15,000 metre diamond
drill program. The next phase of drilling will concentrate on expanding the
DM, Audra and Crescent zone both to depth and along strike, expanding the
Rainbow No. 2 zone to the northwest, and testing the high chargability IP
anomalies at the Coquihalla zone.
A drill plan map and sections of the DM zone are available on the
Company's website at:
